Sportacus- The Art of Mastering Body and Soul

Sports and Martial Arts are codified systems and traditions of combat practices, done for self-defense, recreation, confidence, physical health and fitness as well as mental, physical and spiritual development. The art of living through above mentioned practices will be demonstrated in the project titled: Sportacus: Traditional Sports and Martial Arts of India, US, Japan and South Korea. The aim of the project is to interchange information and perform an in-depth study about the different traditional sports and martial arts of India and other countries mentioned above. Various activities for the students of classes III-VIII have been planned throughout the academic session 2017-18. The students will search and download information about the traditional sports and martial arts of different parts of India as well as the target countries. After collecting the database from internet, they will be involved in various activities like Pamphlet Designing, PowerPoint Presentation and sessions of Kho-Kho, Sudoku, Rubix cube, Yoga, Aerobics and a lot more. The students will also get an opportunity, through video conferencing with the partner schools, to present Indian martial arts such as Gatka and traditional sports such as kho-kho and Kabaddi to students of the partner school. In return they will also learn a few basic steps of the martial arts and traditional sports native to the partner school country.
As a Project Leader, I am looking forward to venture into this new journey, to communicate and collaborate with overseas school, in order to learn from, with and about diversity of sports and martial arts of India and other countries.
